Hi, my name is Veer Agrawal. I am 14 years old and I am studying in 9th grade at American School of Bombay, Bandra, Mumbai.
I have made this website to spread awareness and collect funds for the treatment of the physically challenged members of the low income families. As they cannot afford the required treatment, they are not able to live a confident life.
As the first step, I am organising a 4 day “Jaipur Foot” camp from 23rd – 26th November, 2018 at Risod in Washim district of Maharashtra. This is a unique initiative and we are expecting about 500 needy villagers who are suffering from physical disability to attend this camp. We should be able to help them walk again and live a normal life.
Being an active and sporty kid, I always felt empathetic when I saw any poor disabled person on the road, especially the kids. I could really connect to them as I had met with a road accident a few years back and fractured my thigh bone. I was bedridden for 2 months and was able to move only with a walker for the following 3 months. The agony that I faced in those months still haunts me.
The accident had taken the confidence out of me, but with proper treatment and support of my parents, I recovered soon. I really wished that all the disabled poor could get such treatment and support. Then I started doing online research on how can we help them to live a normal life where they can walk, run and be active just like me. That is when I came to know about “Jaipur Foot” which costs about Rs 5,000 for one artificial limb.
It is a unique treatment where disabled person or polio affected kids and adults are fitted with an artificial limb, which is customised as per their size. This works just like a human leg and the person can again live a normal and confident life.
I believe every human deserves a chance for a better future regardless of the circumstances they are born into. No disability should drag them behind. However, it is not possible without your support. I would urge you to join me in this initiative, and contribute by donating in the bank account mentioned below.
